The two companies have jointly created a new business-focused mobile platform for C# developers. The new offering combines the functions of Xamarin with IBM’s Worklight platform to provide customers with secure cloud-based data services.
“Together, Xamarin and IBM are creating an end-to-end foundation for developers to more effectively mobilize mission-critical enterprise data in their apps,” said Nat Friedman, CEO and co-founder Xamarin in a press release. “The combined Xamarin and IBM solution gives millions of app developers a powerful mobile enterprise opportunity they have never had before.”
Xamarin and IBM are also releasing an SDK designed for Xamarain users that can be easily embedded within their apps to assist with secure integration and management of IBM’s MobileFirst platform. In addition, Xamarin is also introducing new add-ons to Xamarin Studio and Visual Studio to help developers create cross-platform apps.
The formation of this partnership will provide users of both companies’ services with additional tools to help engage their users and equip them with faster, more secure mobile apps. It will also enable C# developers worldwide to easily create multi-platform connectivity for mobile apps.
