The city has long been known as one of Canada’s most popular metropolitan centres, and a new agreement between the Palais des congrès and Openface Internet is sure to make the hotspot even more appealing to tourists and citizens alike.
The deal is the latest step in the MTLWiFi project, an initiative bent on providing free wireless Internet access across downtown Montreal and the Old Port.
“It is an honor and privilege for Openface to be able to play a role in the deployment of a project like MTLWiFi,” said Nicolas Philiptchenko, vice president of Openface. “This project will enhance the digital experience for visitors and citizens alike and we are more than happy in knowing that everyone will benefit from the performance and reliability of the Openface network.”
Openface, a supplier of Internet connectivity and IP services, is providing the city’s main connection. The 20 GBps network will ultimately serve as the project’s foundation.
“Thanks to our partnership with Openface Internet, the Palais des congrès de Montréal is proud to offer all MTLWiFi users a very high quality of Internet,” said Raymond Larivée, president and CEO of the Palais des congrès de Montreal.
With that, we leave you Petula Clark’s final refrain:
“So go downtown – everything’s waiting for you.”
