The Festival’s digital hub will be located in the Samsung Studio (David Pecaut Square). There, Samsung will feature the new phones alongside its other technologies, offering a more connected festival experience for fans. Passersby will be able to capture pictures and video on the Edge+ and the Note5, showcasing Samsung’s latest camera capabilities.
“The Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note5 are designed to help us enhance the experience of the biggest moments in our lives,” said Paul Brannen, Executive Vice President Mobile Solutions, Samsung Electronics Canada. “Both devices are multimedia powerhouses designed to deliver a brilliant display and an ultimate immersive entertainment experience.”
Festival days are long, and every moment jam-packed with action. To ensure mobility and reliability, Samsung’s new phones also offer fast-wired and wireless charging capabilities. Other notable new features include 64-bit processors, 4 GB of RAM and improve side sync.
Appealing to the Festival’s essence, film lovers can shoot their own festival highlights and experiences, creating a personalized reel to share via their social channels. TIFF’s Bell Lightbox, the festival headquarters, will feature the biggest moments on Samsung’s new SUHD TV.
“Samsung and TIFF share a passion for helping Canadians create and get closer to amazing film content,” said Mark Childs, Chief Marketing Officer, Samsung Canada. “By partnering with TIFF, we are enabling movie fans to experience the Festival in their own unique way, bringing them closer to their passion through innovative technology and interactive, customizable experiences.”
While fan and amateurs will no doubt enjoy testing out the latest technologies, Samsung is also looking to the horizon at the Canadian film industry’s rising stars. The Samsung TIFF Emerging Directors Showcase will challenge five new Canadian filmmakers to become Samsung Canada’s on-site ambassadors. Luckily, they’ll have renowned director Jason Reitman and Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody to show them the ropes – er, the wires.
It’s sure to be a Festival to remmeber. As for Samsung, perhaps the big debut will be enough to give the company an edge over Apple.
Somebody pass the popcorn!
