SanDisk announces “world’s fastest” microSD card

SanDisk announces “world’s fastest” microSD card

The company says the UHS-I card is the world’s highest capacity full-sized SD memory card and believes that these offerings expand the company’s portfolio of 4K ultra high definition products.

4K Ultra HD Video
The 4K Ultra HD video resolution is a video quality for consumer devices that require fast, reliable storage as a core component. The video resolution of 4K Ultra HD requires very large files that can be four times the size of a Full HD video file. The SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-I card comes with up to 64GB to generate quality 4K Ultra HD content. Users can shoot from their smartphone, tablet or action camera with transfer rate of up to 95MB/s. The card also has Class 10 and UHS Speed Class 3 ratings, which are recommended by the SD Association for video.

“Features like 4K Ultra HD video recording, which were once only available on high-end devices, have quickly gained popularity and adoption,” said Dinesh Bahal, VP, product marketing, SanDisk, in a press release. “There is no doubt 4K Ultra HD is a game-changer and we are committed to enabling the next generation of video capture and sharing.”

SanDisk has also upgraded its memory cards and SSDs for 4K Ultra HD video. SanDisk’s Extreme, Extreme PLUS and Extreme PRO microSDHC/microSDXC memory cards have been upgraded to the U3 standard.

The company says that the 512GB SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card is the world’s highest capacity SD card and can hold the most video and photos on an SD card, and for pro-level performance and graphics-intensive apps, the suite is SanDisk Extreme PRO SSDs, for 4K RAW and 4K ProRes capture.

Pricing and Availability
Available worldwide, the SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDHC/microSDXC UHS-I cards come with memory capacity of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB and are priced from $79.99 to $299.99.
