New Passport for BlackBerry

New Passport for BlackBerry

So what’s new about it?

Well, the changes made to the Passport have more to do with hardware styling than software. At first glance you will see the curved edges with a silver finish, along with a reinforced stainless steel frame for extra strength and durability. The QWERTY keyboard made popular by BlackBerry has been updated, as well.

The battery life has also improved somewhat with the addition of the largest 3450 mAh battery used among any of the top selling smartphones today. Tests conducted indicate that battery power runs up to 30 hours based on varied usage.

“We strive to deliver products that combine cutting-edge technology with purposeful, globally recognized design, and the BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition is the latest manifestation of this vision,” said Scott Wenger, Global Head of Design at BlackBerry in a press release. “It brings together BlackBerry’s latest OS platform, enhanced productivity features, and a refined industrial design based on customer and user feedback to deliver an unmatched experience for professionals who value precision and focus.”

The size and design of the new Passport is almost identical to the original BlackBerry Passport which, in case you were wondering, was inspired by the design of actual passports, the universal symbol for mobility. They can fit into a pocket and it’s fairly easy to carry one around.

Some of the key features of the BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition are:

  • Square Screen – a 4.5″ screen with a 1440 x1440 pixel (453 dpi) HD display
  • QWERTY Keyboard – ease of use in typing and double as a trackpad with many touch functions
  • New BlackBerry 10.3.2 operating system – including features such as BlackBerry Assistant and Amazon Appstore
  • Battery Life – provides up to 30 hours of mixed use
  • Two app stores – BlackBerry World and the Amazon Appstore
  • BlackBerry Assistant – digital assistant which can be used with voice and text commands to manage native BlackBerry 10 applications
  • BlackBerry Blend – manage messages and content across multiple operating systems including Mac, Windows, iOS and Android
  • Premium quality – in materials and latest technology, Quad Core 2.2 GHZ Processor, 3 GB RAM, 13 MP OIS rear camera and 32 GB memory
  • Sound – powerful speakers and a quad microphone system that delivers a high-quality listening experience
