Networking and mobility made simple with HP’s new solutions

Cloud-managed and SDN-enabled, the solutions are designed for unified wired and wireless networking and will support businesses in the transition to a mobile workforce.

“Our customers are telling us that their networks are primarily cost centers that are too complex to manage, while they are at the same time facing increasing end-user demand for a better mobile experience,” said Bethany Mayer, SVP and GM, Networking Business Unit and Network Functions Virtualization Business, HP. “With HP’s cloud-managed and SDN-enabled unified wired and wireless solutions, we are enabling IT organizations to provide an improved mobile user experience, as well as offering simplified management and investment protection.”

The first of these solutions, the HP Cloud Managed Network, lowers cost of ownership for SMBs and distributed offices by limiting the need for on-site IT staff and reducing up-front costs by 30 per cent via a pay-per-use cloud service model. The solution will become available in June.

The company is also introducing HP 560 and 517 IEEE 802.11ac wireless access points to support mobile devices and provide speeds three times faster than 802.11n. On top of that, the 560 access points will be OpenFlow-enabled so that customers can take advantage of SDN applications without having to replace existing infrastructure.

The 560 access points are currently available now for $1,199, while the 517 Unified 802.11ac wall jack will be available in May for $499.

The new HP 870 and 850 Unified Wired-WLAN Appliances will bring 40 per cent higher scalability to businesses of all sizes, with the 870 providing support for up to 30,000 devices and the 850 providing support for up to 10,000.

The 870 is currently available for $35,999. The 850 will be available in June.

In addition to the new solutions, HP is introducing new services to support mobility and SDN management. HP has partnered with Citrix and MobileIron to integrate their MDM capabilities with HP’s Intelligent Management Center platform. It is also launching Secure BYOD Services and IP Address Management Services for wireless device management, both of which are currently available worldwide.

Finally, to help customers navigate the SDN environment, the company will be providing HP SDN Roadmap Services, which is expected to become available in June.
