Under the terms of the agreement, SAP’s HANA Enterprise Cloud solutions will be made available to customers via IBM’s own cloud system. The deal will also enable SAP to market its HANA Enterprise Cloud to a broader audience with the assistance of IBM’s cloud data centres.
“We look forward to extending one of the longest and most successful partnerships in the IT industry,” said SAP CEO Bill McDermott said in a press release. “The demand for SAP HANA and SAP Business Suite on SAP HANA in the cloud is tremendous and this global agreement with IBM heralds a new era of cloud collaboration. We anticipate customers will benefit from this collaboration and expansion of SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud.”
SAP’s selection of IBM as its new partner was based on IBM’s prior experience with providing cloud solutions and simplified cloud implementation for its customer base. The new collaboration effort will allow for easier deployment of SAP software in more efficient and secure manner with the support of IBM’s cloud.
