To aid customers with SDDCs and hybrid cloud, HP and VMware have announced they are enhancing their relationship. This includes availability of a standalone HP-VMware networking solution and delivery by HP Converged Systems.
HP and VMware also announced that HP Helion OpenStack will support VMware virtualization technologies. The companies believe that this joint effort can help minimize costs, SDDC and hybrid cloud risks as well as catalyze applications’ delivery without compromising operational efficiency.
“Enterprise customers have given clear and strong direction that they need solutions to enable them to build hybrid cloud environments that leverage their existing investments and provide choice and flexibility in the future,” said Bill Hilf, SVP, Cloud Products and Services, HP, in a press release. “With this partnership, HP and VMware are meeting these enterprise requirements and are committing to work together to offer a compelling solution set to meet customer needs.”
The companies claim that HP and VMware’s networking solution is the first of its kind federated networking solution, designed to provide unified automation and visibility into their data centre networks.
This solution federates the HP Virtual Application Networks SDN Controller with the VMware NSX virtualization platform to provide automation of network infrastructure, and the combination of the HP-VMware networking solution with HP Converged Systems and HP OneView automates infrastructure management.
Application development teams can access the infrastructure, and applications can be developed through OpenStack. This technology enables public clouds and can be delivered to the developers in their private cloud without relinquishing control of the infrastructure.
“VMware believes the software-defined data center is inevitable, and is teaming with HP to drive innovation and simplify adoption of open, software-defined technologies in the enterprise,” shared Raghu Raghuram, EVP, SDDC Division, VMware, in a press release. “Customers will be able to combine HP Helion OpenStack with VMware’s enterprise-class infrastructure including VMware vSphere and VMware NSX to achieve production-grade OpenStack deployments. Our integrated network virtualization and SDN solution will help customers achieve a completely new operational model for networking that enables data center operators to achieve orders of magnitude better agility and improved economics.”
HP Helion OpenStack will be released for distribution soon for adoption in private and public cloud environments. To fulfill this commitment, both the companies have strengthened their collaboration to support VMware technologies with HP Helion OpenStack.
OpenStack will support VMware vSphere and VMware NSX virtualization, which will be backed by HP Helion OpenStack Professional Services to implement OpenStack technology.
