Gartner positions Schneider Electric in Magic Quadrant

Gartner positions Schneider Electric in Magic Quadrant

Schneider Electric says it has ranked highly for Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute in the Gartner Magic Quadrant. This is the first Magic Quadrant released for DCIM.

Gartner Magic Quadrant, which is a source for competitive comparisons in the information technology industry, reports analyses and visual summaries of the maturity of markets and vendors.

“We believe Gartner’s establishment of a Magic Quadrant in DCIM reflects the increasing maturity of this market as well as the need for buyer clarity,” said Soeren Brogaard Jensen, VP, Solution Software, Schneider Electric, in a press release. “As our world grows increasingly digital, data centres become the lifeline to mission critical information and services – catapulting the need for DCIM tools to ensure efficiency and uptime. We feel being designated a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant affirms our ability to help data centre owners manage these increased needs and make strategic decisions around energy usage, business needs, shifts in technology and resource optimization based on real-time analytics.”

Gartner’s review took over eight months and included a review of current product features and strategy, pricing models and customer interviews.

Schneider Electric believes this position is a result of StruxureWare for Data Centres’ features through which power management, security and energy usage of IT systems are carried out along with its ability to create a bridge between IT and facility management.

In early 2014 Schneider Electric partnered with Vigilent for data centre operation and released Cooling Optimize, an add-on module for automatic self-correction with temperature air flow issues. Also, Schneider Electric integrated StruxureWare for data centres with HP’s Universal Configuration Management Database, boosting communication between IT Service Management (ITSM) and DCIM platforms.

StruxureWare Data Centre Operation v7.4 was released to reduce expenses by manipulating power, physical infrastructure and integrating with existing DCIM systems. The company says the benefit includes optimizing collocation management which is a growing need as the cloud and collocation market continues to expand.
