FreeWave appoints a new CEO

FreeWave appoints a new CEO

The company says Mr. Niederman was selected for this role to secure its M2M wireless networking and IoT markets.

Niederman has over 20 years of senior executive experience with a good track record in public and private, high-tech, large and mid-size companies and many start-up firms. He successfully led 8×8, Inc. where its market capital grew five times to more than $1 billion.

“FreeWave has built a great management team and employee base, along with innovative technology, to support customers with mission-critical applications in the fast-growing M2M and IoT markets,” said Niederman, in a press release. “We have the right people with the right technology at the right time. I couldn’t be more excited to help lead this company to its next level of success.”

FreeWave co-founder Steve Wulchin will continue as president. The team comprises of Kim Niederman, CEO, Steve Wulchin, co-founder and president, Karl Kunz, CFO, Ashish Sharma, CMO and GM of products, Greg Veintimilla, CTO and VP of engineering, Ken Granader, VP of sales, and Kelly Wenzel, HR director.

Wulchin co-founded FreeWave more than 20 years ago as a data communications company. Under Wulchin, the company has sold more than one million radios. After a $113 million equity placement in 2007 Wulchin built a management team for engineering, finance, operations, human resource and sales functions in the M2M market; and Niederman’s skill is another on-board step up.

“FreeWave is only as strong as the team and leadership it employs,” stated Wulchin, in a press release. “That’s why I am excited to bring Kim on board to complete our senior management team. We now have the executive vision and talent to lead our employees in delivering innovative new technologies for our customers in the industrial M2M and IoT markets. The solutions we will deliver, together with a strong strategy and execution plan, will help take FreeWave to exciting new levels while continuing to serve our customers with the care they have come to expect.”

FreeWave anticipates growth of its industrial market with the introduction of WavePoint, its wireless networking platform to facilitate long-distance industrial data communication to facilitate IoT, M2M, and broadband applications.
