The company’s Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) solution was honoured with the Gold award for Best Mobile Solution at the ceremony for providing a means of managing and monitoring summer and winter maintenance vehicles.
“We’re delighted to be presented with this award for our AVL solution,” Alex Miller, president of Esri Canada said in a press release. “Local governments have implemented this solution as it extends beyond most vehicle tracking programs by allowing organizations to not only track vehicles in real time, but also create route status reports, easily share data and take advantage of historical playback tools to effectively manage operations.”
Esri’s AVL solution is a hosted product that enables users to view a variety of basemaps, map layer integration and easy access to data from desktop and browser-based applications. It also analyzes, publishes and shares AVL content via ArcGIS online for use within and outside the business environment.
Additionally, the software monitors the distance travelled and quantity spread by public works vehicles, allowing cities to determine the financial and environmental costs of road maintenance during the winter months.
