Empirix: turning big data into business intelligence 


To help businesses with this dilemma, Empirix recently released a new analytics platform called Empirix IntelliSight. The new platform turns terabytes of data into easy-to-understand analytics in real-time. It’s supposed to help businesses improve customer experience and performance management, as well as strategic business decision making.   

The analytics platform aggregates information from multiple applications, networks, locations and company departments. It’s designed to manage terabytes of new data each day, and analyze billions of data elements in seconds. A platform that the company says provides richer results, as analyses are done on granular data instead of the aggregated statistics. It targets Communication Service Providers (CSPs), who are inundated with data from expanding customer bases and applications as mobile technology becomes more accessible.  

“The vast amounts of data generated by communications networks are a valuable source to understand customer behavior and usage patterns. Empirix IntelliSight cuts through the noise and provides actionable intelligence by applying real time analytics, enabling CSPs to differentiate based on improved customer experience,” said Anil Rao, analyst at Analysys Mason.   

Empirix IntelliSight can also be useful for large enterprises, as they attempt to integrate voice and video with the traditional client-server data applications. The platform includes application packages for ‘out-of-the-box intelligence’ on customer behavior, OTT applications and network and app performance. It also has real-time dashboards, standard and programmable KQIs and KPIs and drill downs. In addition, the packages all have data visualization tools that both technical and non-technical users can understand.

“Network operators as well as enterprises combining UCM and data need big-picture intelligence about how customers interact with their networks,” said Tim Moynihan, vice president of marketing for Empirix. “Empirix IntelliSight is the next step in our evolution toward providing increasingly comprehensive analysis capabilities. It takes masses of unstructured data, organizes, enriches and presents it as intelligence comprehensible to decision makers who don’t have engineering backgrounds. It shows operators how well they are meeting evolving customer needs – and how to do it better and more profitably.” 

Empirix IntelliSight has also designed application, service and customer-centric models, for operators and enterprises data-centres looking to implement Service Operations Centres. The new platform also has built-in integration with Empirix probes, and an easy-to-use interface for importing data streams from third-party probes, applications, network elements, network managers, OSS/BSS and other sources.
