Elevate and Moneris announce the launch of Canada’s first E-commerce Accelerator

Elevate and Moneris Solutions Corporation (Moneris) said that they will be starting the country’s first E-commerce accelerator called eCommerce North. This is a digital-first program will be offering a six months’ worth of sponsored programming with the aim of assisting 50 Canadian E-commerce start-ups to grow in the next 3 years. Applications for this program have started with the first batch to be introduced on May 12.

Aside from this, the program will also offer the founders access to be mentored by Canadian executives and entrepreneurs like Elevate CEO and serial entrepreneur, Razor Suleman (CEO Coach), and Moneris Chief Operating Officer, Bruce Nanton (Corporate in Residence). They will also be given the chance to practice proven growth methodologies from a roster of entrepreneurs in residence like Phillip Gales (Business Ops), Harp Gahunia (Finance & Fundraising), and growth marketing strategy from Jyll Saskin Gales, Rokham Fard, and Nicole Murphy.

The goal of this accelerator is to equip founders to standout in a stakeholder-centric world and will also shy away from teaching founders in the traditional accelerator programming set-up by including additional coaching sessions on how businesses can scale sustainability, equity and mental health.

“For 20 years, we have seen the strength, resilience and passion of Canadian small businesses, and it has never been more tested than over the past 12 months,” says Moneris President and CEO, Angela Brown. “Helping Canadian entrepreneurs transition to a digital future isn’t just a business goal, it’s the right thing to do.”

The program will be available to startups across Canada, with a promise to offer a dedicated French cohort in 2022. To be eligible for the program, the start-up must be a digital-first marketplace or tech enabler with demonstrated traction. The full criteria can be accessed on the eCommerce North website.
