At the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 in Las Vegas, the company unveiled its new Inspiron 15 7000. Although coming from the corporate Inspiron line, the 15-inch laptop also draws some performance hardware and design inspiration from Dell’s gaming computer subsidiary Alienware.
With variants priced from $1,057 to $1,455 capture the attention of bargain-conscious gamers.
“While Alienware caters to gamers wanting a high-performance, premium PC gaming rig, there is an unmet need for performance gaming systems that are more affordable,” the company said. “Recognizing that not everyone plays the same way, adding the new Inspiron gaming line gives gamers a better range of price points and systems ready to game straight out of the box.”
Some of the key features include:
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti discrete graphics, and its own video memory not one that’s shared with the CPU.
- Core i5 up to 7th Gen Intel Core i7 Quad Core processors that complement in-depth graphics architecture
- Non-touch anti-glare options in full high definition display or 4K UHD
- Front-firing speakers, a subwoofer and Waves MaxxAudio Pro
- A 74 WHr battery
- A backlit keyboard with WASD keys
- Configurations choices of 8 to 16GB of memory, the option to get support for 32GB of DDR4 memory
A bit of design boost come via distinctive big fan vents in black and red detail on the keyboard and front edge of the laptop.
Dell appears to be more aggressively pursuing the gaming space which has received quite a boost from new tech trends such as virtual reality and the growing popularity of computer game tournaments.

“The popularity of PC gaming is at an all-time high, with hardware alone forecasted to exceed $35 billion by the end of 2018, thanks to the introduction of VR and excitement created by eSports and gaming tournaments,” said Bryan deZayas, director, Dell Gaming.

eSports demonstrate the massive cultural shift of gaming from a niche hobby to a global cultural and digital phenomenon. The esports fanbase already rivals the number of ice hockey fans, and in the next three years, the global esports audience will grow from 256 million to 345 million viewers and revenues surpassing $1 billion, according to Dell.
Dell has partnered with ELEAGUE to support their vision of producing high-quality, innovative eSports tournaments that reach audiences both via television and online streaming platforms, said deZayas.
Dell will become the exclusive provider of PC hardware for ELEAGUE.
ELEAGUE will use the Alienware Aurora with Dell 24-inch 144Hz gaming monitor as their competition system giving players incredible speed and processing power to easily overcome the most chaotic of competitive moments.
