The Framehawk-HDX combination will give users the freedom to work efficiently, regardless of location, device or poor network conditions. Framehawk’s solution will be added to Citrix’s XenApp and its XenDesktop. Citrix executives believe the addition will complement the company’s current application and desktop virtualization portfolio.
“As a company, we are focused on delivering the best user experience on any device, over any network,” commented Sudhakar Ramakrishna, senior vice president and general manager, Enterprise and Service Provider division at Citrix. “The addition of Framehawk’s technology to the HDX portfolio enables Citrix to continue to lead the industry in delivering a powerful virtual desktop and application experience.”
As mobile users increasingly adopt tablets and smartphones, businesses are looking to ensure that employees can access their apps and virtual desktops on Wi-Fi and cellular networks anywhere, even networks where quality is poor or unreliable.
“With enterprises increasingly enabling mobility for their employees, the ability to deliver apps and desktops with the best user experience to any of the billions of devices on the market is of paramount importance,” said Ramakrishna.
Framehawk was founded in 2008, with some of the company’s key team members coming from NASA. The company has used their expertise to develop a platform that brings enterprise apps to mobile devices, in a way that balances the needs of users and the data security requirements of IT departments.
“We find tremendous synergies in combining our technology with Citrix, the recognized leader in desktop and application virtualization,” said Peter Badger, CEO and co-founder, Framehawk. “Enabling businesses to embrace and deliver Windows apps and desktops for all of its employees, regardless of their work location, is a key success metric for both of our companies, and our customers alike.”
