Sage Canada, the leader in cloud business management solutions, announced recently the results of the 2021 Forward Together survey. The survey looked at the on-going impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on SMB business’ top management and Canadian employees. It also takes a look at their plans and priorities after the pandemic has subsided.
The research has found that 47 per cent of Canadian businesses and 32 per cent of employees are experiencing burnout as the main concern for the remainder of the year. Businesses and non-profit organizations with over 100 employees are most likely to experience this. The solutions involved in resolving this vary for each:
- Only 32 per cent of businesses said that they are already addressing burnout, while 46 per cent mentioned they are in the process of developing a plan to address it, and 22 per cent don’t plan to address it at all.
- 47 per cent of businesses want to increase budget allotment on technology, and 36 per cent wants to increase marketing budgets.
- 37 per cent of businesses said that investing in employee training internally is a priority of top employees while 28 per cent preferred investing externally. The top priority for both internal and external is to increase compensation (34 per cent).
The two sets of survey respondents were seen to differ in some areas. One of this includes hiring additional employees. Thirty four per cent of business leaders and 28 per cent of employees said that hiring additional employees is a second priority. Twenty two per cent of business leaders and 19 per cent of employees both said that technological skills are the most important to cultivate for workers in 2021.
