Avira debuts new versions of mobile anti-virus software

Avira debuts new versions of mobile anti-virus software

Avira Android Security 3.0 is optimized for use on smartphones and tablets, and received a 100 per cent detection score from AV-Test, an institute that conducts research on IT security and anti-virus software for Microsoft and Android operating systems.

The software scans a user’s devices for malware, viruses, and Trojans, and allows users to block certain contacts, such as telemarketers, from calling or texting. Lost or stolen devices can be tracked using a map on; this feature also enables users to remotely lock or wipe their devices in the event of theft.

“As more and more security problems arise with Android and the apps in Google’s Play Store, Avira is there to help,” said Leon Crutchley, mobile products manager, Avira. “We are there both with our award-winning security and with our back-up service in case the worst happens.”

Like its Android counterpart, Avira Mobile Security for iOS scans devices for malicious software and provides GPS location capabilities. But the iOS version of the software also allows users to connect with technical support representatives for assistance with PC, Mac, Android, or iOS devices.

“This is the perfect all-around security app to have on your iPhone or iPad. It’s especially important during the holiday shopping season, when you’ll be protected from any malicious app downloads, as well as empowered to handle any technical problems that come up,” said Crutchley. “The app is particularly useful because our Avira Answers community comprises passionate techies from all around the world who want to help other Avira users.”
