Using Apple’s new Apple Pay mobile payment system, American Express Card members can add their eligible credit card and pay with their mobile device in-store or using apps that accept American Express.
AmEx cardholders will receive real-time details for all purchases made, and a connection to the Amex Mobile app for enhanced account monitoring. They will also be eligible for rewards and special offers.
Each Apple Pay-enabled card will feature a unique ID number, and all payments will be authorized with Touch ID or a passcode before the transaction is processed.
In order to begin using Apple Pay, AmEx members must access Apple Passbook app after downloading iOS 8.1. If the member already has an eligible American Express Card on file with iTunes, they must enter in the Security Code or choose to add a new AmEx card.
Apple Pay will be available in the U.S. from October 20, 2014. It is fully optimized for use with iOS 8.1., iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.
